Frequently asked questions

What is WorcGives2018?

Tuesday 27 November 2018 is WorcGives 2018, Worcester College’s Giving Day. We’re creating a Giving Day – well, 36 hours to be precise – to have some fun, to connect with our community, and for us all to give what we can to support the College.

What makes a Giving Day different from any other day?

Gifts made towards the Giving Day, unlike donations made during the rest of the year, will have an even greater impact.

WorcGives 2018 is a day to know more about what we’re doing. We know it’s easy to get distracted by other things, so we’re creating this one day now for us all to come together and remember why we care, to communicate with other people and to encourage everyone to give so that the College can continue to provide our students with the best possible environment and support to help them achieve the best they can.

How do I get involved?

In the run up to WorcGives 2018, you can become an ambassador and help us spread the word through your networks.

On the day all you need to do is give to the College during the 36 hours of WorcGives2018. Just click on the donate button on Tuesday 27 November. All gifts count. You can also follow #WorcGives2018 and join in with the action on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

How can I give tax-efficiently from the US?

We can count donations made via our North American Office ( in the next 36 hours into the Giving Day totals. Use the drop-down menu to find Worcester College and in the text box to write Giving Day or include the fund that you wish to give towards for Giving Day.

Just email to let us know that you have made the donation and the amount, and the Giving Team can manually add your donation to the total and add you to the Donor Wall during working hours.

How do I know my donation is secure?

Worcester College uses an offsite payment processor called “Stripe” to process credit card donations. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.

How can I help?

Worcester Fund Leave your gift unrestricted to allow the College to respond quickly and appropriately to the areas of greatest need.

Worcester Fund: Bursaries and Scholarships For many students the excitement and anticipation of acceptance at Worcester is tempered by the knowledge that their time at Oxford will be one of considerable financial challenge. Help us to continue and expand the financial support we can offer to our undergraduates and postgraduates.

Worcester Fund: Outreach and Access Worcester actively works with Local Authorities to encourage applications from under-represented backgrounds. Support our Access and Outreach Officer and newly appointed Tinsley Outreach and Access Fellow as they enhance our Outreach and Access programme.

Worcester Fund: Buildings, Gardens and Grounds Our gardens and grounds are the envy of all. They provide a unique environment in which our students, academics, and staff study, research and work. Help us continue to renovate our ancient buildings and improve our facilities and infrastructure.
